Adam McCracken

lets make something cool

Hey, I’m Adam. I'm a print-loving graphic designer, figuring it out one page at a time. From posters, booklets, zines, newspaper layouts, and the occasional hand-drawn illustration. My work is deeply rooted in storytelling, texture, and type.

I'm at the start of my career, but I bring curiosity, care, and a strong foundation to every project — and I'm always looking for new opportunities to push my design work further.

Design Origins

I’ve been a creative for as long as I can remember, but my journey into design really began in high school. It started with illustration classes and quickly grew into something more.

In 2019, I attended the West Virginia Governor’s School for the Arts, an experience that deepened my passion for visual storytelling. That same year, I joined Wheeling Park High School’s Studio 235, a student-run design space that gave me my first hands-on experience with real-world projects.

Since then, design has been the thread connecting my love for art, communication, connection, and community.

This T-shirt design was my entry into the 2021 SkillsUSA T-shirt design competition, which won first in-state and ranked Top 20 in the national competition.

Practice makes perfect

Since graduating from high school in 2021 and becoming a design student at West Virginia University, I’ve had the opportunity to grow my skills across a variety of design roles.

I’ve interned at an advertising agency, worked in a print shop, contributed to a college design team within an advertising department, and designed for a student-run newspaper. Each role has helped me build confidence, refine my process, and understand how design works in different real-world settings.

Along the way, I’ve also taken on several freelance projects. These experiences have taught me how to adapt my style to meet unique client needs while staying true to my creative voice.

Pink Ink, my senior capstone project, explores queer discrimination, history, and activism while highlighting the powerful role design plays in activist movements. This project reflects my passion for using design as a tool to spark conversation, challenge perspectives, and amplify important voices.

Why i design

For me, design is about more than making things look good — it’s about telling stories, sparking curiosity, and creating moments of connection. I’m drawn to work that has meaning, whether it’s amplifying underrepresented voices, celebrating community, or making everyday experiences feel just a little more thoughtful.

I believe good design invites people in. It’s not just about style or trends; it’s about listening carefully, finding the right visual language, and bringing ideas to life in a way that feels both intentional and alive. That’s the energy I bring to every project, no matter the scale — and it’s what keeps me excited to keep learning, exploring, and pushing my work forward.
